Insurance adjusters view mold as a hinderance to water damage claims. It is better to fix the problem and work with the adjuster to get a fair return. Many times there are other problems not insured making a water damage that lead to mold more difficult to address for a contractor. You could have a pipe leak in the bathroom and fail to keep a shower/tub area maintained as an example.
